What your body really needs is whole, real, nutrient-dense foods that will replenish your body. Eating foods high in antioxidants, potassium, water & fiber, that are also low in calories and sodium will work to eliminate the negative symptoms such as bloating, discomfort, and fatigue.
Over-indulging happens to the best of us, and sometimes your body just needs a re-set! If you are feeling sluggish, achy, bloated and/or know you have not been eating well, try these 4 tips that will help to get you feeling like yourself again!
- Choose foods that are packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. This includes brightly colored fruits and vegetables, and the more the better! (Think blueberries, cranberries, citrus, greens, sprouts, bell pepper, carrots…etc.) Green tea, and some beans also help decrease inflammation. These foods actually help to revitalize your cells by neutralizing free-radicals circulating around the body from the less-than-healthy things you’ve been eating.
- Choose water and potassium-rich foods that are low in sodium. Water + potassium is an amazing combo that will help to restore normal fluid balance in your body, which in turn will decrease bloat! Potassium counterbalances excess sodium, and fluid helps to flush out your system. All veggies (especially leafy greens) and bananas are your friends here.
- Choose foods packed with fiber! Fiber helps keep you regular – moving things through the digestive system. It scrapes the gut clean and reduces gas – thus creating a flatter stomach. You can find fiber in any fruit, veggie, and in quality whole grains like oatmeal and quinoa.
- Sweat is out! Sweating is a natural toxin-elimination process. Aim to sweat daily because this is one way our body eliminates excess salt and by-products from our cells’ metabolic processes.
